S1262 — Construction Contracting

Senate Bill 1262 relating to construction contracting requirements and contractor continuing education died in the Appropriations Committee on June 16, 2025.

The bill, as proposed, would have required a portion of the 14 classroom hours of continuing education for contractor certificate holders and registrants to address financial literacy and basic consumer protection principles. The bill also proposed that the Department of Business and Professional Regulation create and adopt a standardized disciplinary form and that local construction regulation boards submit specified reports by a set date.

Florida licensed contractors required to complete continuing education, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, and local construction regulation boards.

The bill died in committee on June 16, 2025, and did not become law.
